USC Annenberg National Health Journalism Fellowship, University of Southern California
Basic Information: Join us in Los Angeles July 12-16 for an intensive 4 1/2 day journalism institute focusing on vulnerable children and their families and the community conditions that affect their prospects for health. All expenses paid, plus reporting grants of $2,000-$10,000 to underwrite substantive explanatory or investigative journalism on health care reform, community health or children's health, welfare and well-being.

FDA Tobacco Regulatory Science Fellowship, Institute of Medicine
Basic Information: The fellowship is a 12-month, multidisciplinary residential program at CTP in Maryland. Fellows will be placed in one of six areas within the CTP: Compliance and Enforcement; Health Communication and Education; Management; Policy; Regulations; or Science. This is an excellent opportunity for exceptional professionals to actively participate in the development of science-based public health strategies, serve as the lead for defined projects, meet with policy leaders, and acquire new knowledge related to tobacco products and their use, which is the leading cause of preventable death in the United States.
Requirements: Exceptional professionals with a minimum of five to seven years of experience are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, non-citizen nationals of the United States, or have been admitted to the United States for permanent residence and have a valid green card number before applying to the program, and must have an advanced degree in a relevant field.

Journalism Fellowships on Immigrant Families, Institue for Justice & Journalism
Basic Information: The educational, economic and social issues faced by immigrant children and their families — and how they impact the rest of society — will be the focus of a fellowship program organized by the Institute for Justice & Journalism. Up to 16 journalists will be chosen to attend the conference, to be held April 7-10 at Georgia State University in Atlanta. IJJ will pay for travel and other expenses.
