Here's what we're reading (and listening to) today:

Embargo Break: Did the Financial Times break a journal embargo in reporting the tenofovir microbicide story coming out of the Vienna  HIV/AIDS conference? Ivan Oransky says yes over at his blog Embargo Watch.

Medi-Cal: All those complaints about not being able to find a doctor who takes Medi-Cal in California are backed up by a new study from the California HealthCare Foundation/University of California-San Francisco showing that only 57% of doctors reported accepting new Medi-Cal patients. What's happening in your state's Medicaid program?

Nutrition: NPR's Pam Fessler reports on the challenges faced by one family in trying to eat healthfully on very little money, touching on the food access-obesity paradox. "When it comes to filling a hungry stomach, a cheaper high-calorie option can look pretty good."

Toning: Too bad those expensive "toning shoes" don't actually work to make you svelte. Now we'll have to try something extreme, like eating less and exercising.
