Dr. Lisha Wilson is medical director of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation's Earvin "Magic" Johnson Jr. Clinics in San Francisco and Oakland. She has worked extensively with HIV/AIDS patients in the African-American community, especially women. Wilson formerly served as chief of the division of HIV services at Highland General Hospital in Oakland. She is board-certified in internal medicine and completed her residency at Highland General Hospital in 1993. She received her M.D. from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Lawrence Friedman is the director of the Department of Medicine at UC San Diego. He has been a board-certified internist and has been chief of the division of adolescent medicine at the University of California, San Diego since 1994. Friedman completed his residency and fellowships at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital and Children's Hospital in Boston. He remained in Boston as a member of the Harvard Medical School faculty, practicing internal and adolescent medicine, until moving to San Diego in 1994.
Dr. John R. Balmes is a pulmonary physician, professor of medicine at University of California, San Francisco, and chief of the division of occupational and environmental medicine at San Francisco General Hospital (SFGH). His research is principally in occupational and environmental respiratory disease. Dr. Balmes studies the effects of exposures to air pollution in his human exposure laboratory at San Francisco General Hospital and the chronic effects of such exposures in epidemiological studies with collaborators at both UCSF and UC Berkeley.
