Susan B. Sorenson is a professor of criminology and social policy and a senior fellow in public health at the University of Pennsylvania. Previously, she was a professor of community health sciences at the UCLA School of Public Health, where she taught a graduate course in family and sexual violence \"- the first violence prevention course in a school of public health in the nation. She also taught a course on fatal violence that focuses on guns and gun policy.

Dr. Lester Breslow is a professor and dean emeritus of the UCLA School of Public Health. He has been professionally active in public health for 65 years, especially in chronic disease control and health promotion. His colleagues call him Mr. Public Health "mostly because he helped set the course for modern thinking about health and fitness," according to a Los Angeles Times profile.

E. Richard Brown, Ph.D. is the founder and director of the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research and a professor at the UCLA School of Public Health. Professor Brown has studied and written extensively on disadvantaged populations' access to health care. His studies of health insurance coverage, the uninsured and eligibility for public programs have been used by California's governors, legislators and advocates in crafting health insurance legislation and programs.
