Dr. Anderson worked at the University of Chicago for 28 years, serving as director of the Center for Health Administration Studies and the graduate program in health adminsitration. He has been at UCLA for 14 years, previously serving as chair of the departmment of health services and professor in the department of sociology. He developed the behavioral model of health services, which has been extensively recognized nationally and internationally as a framework for access to medical care studies studies. He received his Ph.D. in sociology from Purdue University.

Robert M. Veatch, Ph.D., is Professor of Medical Ethics and the former Director of the Kennedy Institue of Ethics at Georgetown University. He also holds appointments as Professor of Philosophy and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Community and Family Medicine at Georgetown Medical Center. He is the Senior Editor of the Kennedy Institute of Ethics Journal and a former member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of the American Medical Association.

Irva Hertz-Picciotto is a professor in the department of public health sciences at UC Davis. Her three major areas of research are methods in epidemiology studies, environmental exposures, and pregnancy outcomes and children's health. Her epidemiologic studies include work with control groups and selection bias, the "healthy worker survivor" bias, timing issues, and use of epidemiologic data in quantitative cancer risk assessment. Environmental exposures of interest to her include metals, pesticides, persistent organics, and air pollution.

Dr. Beate Ritz is a professor in the department of epidemiology and environmental health at the UCLA School of Public Health, and in the department of neurology at the UCLA Geffen School of Medicine. Ritz is also a member of the Center for Occupational and Environmental Health, the NIEHS-UCLA-USC Environmental Health Science Center, and a participant in the UCLA EPA-Particle Center effort. She is the co-director of the NIEHS-funded UCLA Center for Gene-Environment Studies in Parkinson's Disease.
