Larry Adelman is co-director of California Newsreel, the country's oldest non-profit documentary production and distribution center. He oversees Newsreel's productions and has helped develop dozens of Newsreel releases. Most recently, he served as series creator and executive producer for Unnatural Causes, a four-hour series, broadcast by PBS in March and April 2008, that focuses on the social determinants of health disparities. Mr.Adelman has served as writing and editorial consultant for many programs, including Marlon Riggs' Black Is, Black Ain't and Color Adjustment.

Larry Cohen is executive director and founder of the Oakland-based Prevention Institute. He has been an advocate for public health and prevention since 1972. He was the founding director of the Contra Costa County Prevention Program, where he formed the first coalition in the nation to change tobacco policy. The coalition passed local anti-smoking ordinances and served as a catalyst for other statewide and national efforts, including smoking bans on airplanes and restrictions in public places, restaurants, and workplaces.

Kristen Testa is director of the California Health Program for The Children's Partnership, a national nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that undertakes research, analysis, and advocacy to place the needs of America's nearly 70 million children and youth -- particularly the underserved -- at the forefront of emerging policy debates. Before joining The Children's Partnership, she served as the assistant secretary for program and fiscal affairs for the California Health and Human Services Agency, where she oversaw the policy and budget issues for the Healthy Families and Medi-Cal programs.

Kimberly Belshé was appointed secretary of the California Health and Human Services Agency by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger in November 2003. Belshé is a member of the governor's cabinet and serves as his chief advisor on health, social services and rehabilitative policies. Belshé manages an agency of almost 33,000 employees, with a total state budget of about $70 billion. The agency oversees 11 state departments and one board that are responsible for providing Californians with health, developmental, mental, rehabilitative, social and other critical services.

Karen Pollitz is a Research Professor at the Health Policy Institute at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. There she directs research on health insurance reform issues as they affect consumers and patients. Her areas of focus include regulation of private health insurance plans and markets, managed care consumer protections, and access to affordable health insurance. She is also an adjunct professor in Georgetown's Graduate Public Policy School.

Dr. Benjamin is a physician with over 20 years of experience in public policy development, management of health systems and clinical care. He is the former secretary of the Maryland Department of Health & Mental Hygiene, former health commissioner (acting) and director of emergency medical services for the District of Columbia, former chief of emergency medicine at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology and the University of Illinois College of Medicine.

Dr. David M. Gaba is director of the Patient Safety Center of Inquiry for the VA Palo Alto Health Care System. He is also a professor of anesthesiology at the Stanford School of Medicine and a fellow with the university's Center for Health Policy (CHP) and the Center for Primary Care and Outcomes Research (PCOR).
