Biography
Ms. Gayle Tang is a senior director of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan. She has served as director of national linguistic & cultural programs, is a diversity champion and leader in the improvement of language access throughout Kaiser Permanente and the community. Ms. Tang has led multiple strategic initiatives and created service delivery systems that have supported the provision of culturally and linguistically competent care to patients and their diverse communities. Ms. Tang has developed and currently teaches a Health Care Interpreter Certificate Program with the goal of developing a cadre of linguistically and culturally competent healthcare interpreters. She teaches the course at City College of San Francisco. She continues to dedicate much of her time to promoting cultural and linguistic awareness between patients, health care professionals and the community, and is currently engaged in several research projects assessing the quality of language access services, entitled "Building Language Access Through Data Standards and Tools."
