Mary M. Lee

Mary M. Lee is associate director of PolicyLink, a national advocacy organization based in Oakland. Ms. Lee is a practicing attorney with more than 25 years of experience working in communities throughout California, with special emphasis on issues of housing, land use and community economic development. A former L.A. Transportation Commissioner, she now serves on the L.A. Food Policy Task Force charged with making recommendations to Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa about food system reform strategies. Ms. Lee began her legal career at the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles and then joined the Western Center on Law and Poverty as a housing attorney. She has taught law at Loyola Law School and public policy at Occidental College and also teaches classes at L.A. Trade Technical College on fair housing and fair lending regulations, health policy advocacy, health leadership and community development. She is a graduate of Pitzer College and Boalt Hall School of Law at UC Berkeley.
