Strategic Actions for a Just Economy


Robert Bustillo is the Lead Organizer with Strategic Actions for Just Economy (SAJE). Mr.Bustillo has more than 30 years of organizing experience in the areas of immigration, alcohol prevention, literacy, tenant's rights, and leadership development. Before joining SAJE, Mr.Bustillo worked with the Coalition for Economic Survival (CES), the oldest tenant's rights organization in the City of Los Angeles. There he led the Healthy Homes for Families campaign in the neighborhoods of North Hollywood, Hollywood and Pico Union. Currently at SAJE, Mr.Bustillo organizes tenant associations along the Figueroa Corridor in Downtown Los Angeles, developing a new cadre of leadership to fight gentrification and the resulting displacement oflocals. Mr. Bustillo also played an instrumental role in the "Repairs, Respect and Reparations" organizing campaign against a landlord ultimately convicted on several criminal misdemeanors.
