About Myself:
Since 2001 I have been a print journalist/freelancer with the Jackson Advocate Newspaper; the oldest African American paper in the state of Mississippi. I cover education, business, health, human interest and the arts. I have a BA degree in Social Work with a medical speciality, a M.ed in counseling with a concentration in Vocational/Occupational Services. I posess above average medical terminology and pharmacology along with health and mental coding according to the DSM-IV. I have worked in Chicago, Atlanta and Mississippi as a social worker and counselor for community mental health and insurance utilization review. Additionally, I have a vested interest in the health disparaties that exist in the Mississippi Delta.
