I've been Healthcare and Medicine Reporter at WNYC, the nation’s largest public radio station, since 2002. During this time I've covered healthcare reform, disease outbreaks, chronic illness, environmental health, the hospital, insurance and pharmaceutical industries and a wide array of topics that have taken me to both traditional healthcare delivery settings and schools, prisons and autopsy labs, among others. Prior to WNYC, in addition to working for WHYY and WRTI in Philadelphia, I worked or free-lanced for the New York Times, Time magazine, Philadelphia Inquirer, Omaha World-Herald, Manhattan Mercury, South China Morning Post, Hong Kong Standard, Jerusalem Post and United Press International. I'm also currently a Fellow for NPR and Kaiser Health News, and my work appears frequently in both. Most recently, I won the Association for Health Care Journalists’ top radio honoree for Beat Reporting for 2015. I live in Brooklyn, New York, with my wife, daughter, son and dog.
