I have been a reporter for 12 years, covering education and city government before joining a two-person team covering health. I have won awards for covering the growth in charity care and bad debt seen at local hospitals, for investigating one of the inventors of the artificial heart and for features on a photographer of stillbirth babies and a liver transplant.

As a 2010 National Fellow, I plan to write about a variety of health disparities found in some of Salt Lake City's poorest and most diverse neighborhoods.
