About Myself:
In 2001, at age eleven, Juan Santiago emigrated from Oaxaca Mexico to San Joaquin Valley in California. Living at one of the poorest region in the country, Juan have had the opportunity to see first-hand the daily experiences of immigrant and refugee communities across the Valley, giving him ample knowledge on challenges these under represented communities encounter and enabling him to produce provocative and thoughtful news stories.
In 2007, Juan join Radio Bilingue to help host La Hora Mixteca, a multilingual-Sunday-programming designed to provide a space amongst the diaspora of the Mexican indigenous communities both in Mexico and in the U.S. In 2012, after successfully completing an internship within the news department, Juan join the news team and since then remain a freelance news reporter for the station. He has filed news report on health, immigration, environment, and on education.
Juan is currently a student at California State University, Fresno. He is pursuing a career in the realm of political science and international political economy.
