About Myself:
Ojoma Akor is the health editor of Daily Trust newspaper, a national daily in Nigeria.
She reports and edits health stories; and also coordinates the newspaper’s correspondents to do special reports and investigative pieces on medical research and public health issues.
She has over a decade experience covering gender issues, agriculture, politics and health.
She is a fellow of the HIV Research For Prevention (HIVR4P 2018) Media Fellowship, Madrid, Spain 2018, and a Media Scholar, 10th International AIDS Society (IAS) Conference on HIV Science , July 2019, Mexico City, Mexico.
Akor is also a fellow of the Biosciences For Farming In Africa Fellowship (B4fa), and Child Rights Advocacy Fellowship of Youth Hub Africa done with Support From Malala Fund, 2018.
Akor has won and been nominated for awards including the PACFaH Media Awards, Nordica Media Merit Award and several awards within her organization, Media Trust Limited, publishers of Daily Trust and other titles.
Akor received her Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in mass communication from Kogi State University, Anyigba, and her Master of Science degree (MSc), in the same course from Benue State University , Makurdi , Nigeria.
