About Myself:
Ruslan Gurzhiy has spent two decades exploring the life of the Slavic diaspora in the United States and its relationship with foreign political, religious and business elites in Russia and Ukraine. The author pays main attention to such problems as religious and political corruption in the Northern California among Russian-speaking ethnic immigrant groups.
Among the investigated topics are the participation of Slavic immigrant churches in international corruption schemes, real estate fraud, investment fraud, and others.
Ruslan Gurzhiy was born in the city Gomel, Belarus in 1981. He studied in a school at specialized class of German language, graduated from the Gomel City Lyceum (specialized in German language) and two years from the Gomel State University named after Francis Skaryna. Gurzhiy studied also the history of Germany and German language in the gymnasium of Munich.
In 2001, Gurzhiy’s family immigrated to the USA.
In 2003, Ruslan was engaged in publishing, then switched to television. Also he was in the position of producer in the Vatican channel in California, where has worked until 2009.
In 2010, he was interning as a film editor on a TV channel Russia Today in Moscow, in the same year he worked as art director at TBN Russia in St. Petersburg.
In 2014, Gurzhiy has created the first news portal Slavic Sacramento (SlavicSac.com) in Russian language in California, which is the most visited Russian-speaking news resource on the West Coast.
Ruslan also works im film industry as a producer, writer and director.
