About Myself:
Yomi Wrong manages the ADA compliance program for Sutter Health’s Peninsula Coastal Region, a wide territory in Northern California that spans four counties and includes three hospitals and a large medical foundation with more than 40 care sites. The compliance program involves remediation of physical barriers, as well as policy implementation to ensure equal access to high quality health care for people with disabilities. Before joining Sutter Health, Ms. Wrong served as Executive Director of the Berkeley, CA-based Center for Independent Living (CIL) Inc. During her tenure, CIL emerged as a leading voice for consumer-directed services under health care reform. In addition to health care advocacy, Ms. Wrong developed expertise in emergency planning and response for people with access and functional needs. She continues to provide training in this area for the State of California. Ms. Wrong serves on several nonprofit boards, including the ACLU of Northern California and In-Home Supportive Services Consortium based in San Francisco. Prior to her work in disability rights she had a career as a print journalist, writing and editing for numerous publications including the Pulitzer-prize winning Orange County Register and San Jose Mercury News.
