MJ Bear Fellowship

Information: The MJ Bear Fellowships identify and celebrate early-career digital journalists, working independently or for a company or organization, who have demonstrated — through professional experimentation, research or other projects — that they deserve support for their efforts and/or vision.The fellows are up-and-coming journalists inside or outside the newsroom who are just beginning to make their voices heard in the industry and working to expand the boundaries of digital news.

CNN Diversity Fellowship

Information: Digital journalists from diverse backgrounds with experience reporting for mobile and social platforms are encouraged to apply for the CNN Diversity Fellowship at ONA16. Four winners will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the ONA conference in Denver Sept. 15-17. Applications will be open to journalists of diverse backgrounds, inclusive of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age and gender.

Information: NIHCM Foundation supports timely health care journalism that informs efforts to improve the health of Americans and that examines emerging health issues and their implications for cost, quality and access. NIHCM Foundation is making a total of up to $250,000 available and expects to fund 6 to 8 projects from this amount.

2016 Price Child Health and Welfare Journalism Awards, Children’s Advocacy Institute (CAI)

Information: The Price Child Health and Welfare Journalism Award, administered with the assistance of the Children’s Advocacy Institute (CAI), recognizes significant stories, series, or bodies of work that advance the understanding of, and enhance public discourse on, child health and well-being issues in California, including child health / health care reform; nutrition;child safety;child poverty; child care; education; child abuse; foster care; former foster youth / transition issues; juvenile justice; children with special needs, and others. All stories or series published by a major daily or weekly California newspaper from July 1, 2015—June 30, 2016 are eligible for nomination.
