For Roze Johnson, who gave birth at Dominican Hospital in March, the letter saying her Dignity Health bill was sent to an collections agency was the last straw.

"They sent me to collections for something that wasn't 30 days old," she said Monday after calling to inquire. "They haven't sent me a bill yet. It's a mistake."
