The Center for Health Journalism's 2024 Ethnic Media Collaborative Scores Awards and Nominations in Prestigious Journalism Competitions

The Center for Health Journalism's 2024 Ethnic Media Collaborative has earned numerous awards in several leading journalism competitions, including the California News Publishers Association’s (CNPA) California Journalism Awards, the 54th Emmy Awards, the Gracie Award, the Society for Professional Journalism Awards, and the Empowerment Award for Civil Rights and Social Justice. These awards have recognized outstanding work in uplifting the voices of the marginalized.

Aging Latino farmworkers working well into their sixties and seventies with no safety nets built for retirement. A Zapotec woman receiving medication to induce a miscarriage with no support or information in her language causing her to plunge into a deep depression when she loses her baby. Farm workers having to choose between healthy food and medication, relying on food banks to feed their families.  A street medicine team in San Bernardino managing the chronic illnesses and mental health of unhoused people. A series of 33 stories examining Black men's mental health in Sacramento. These are just a few of the stories from the Collaborative that have won accolades.
