Carrie Peyton Dahlberg

Writer and Editor

Carrie Peyton Dahlberg writes about science, medicine and energy. Her work has appeared in magazines, newspapers and websites including Scientific American MIND, Inside Science News Service, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Yoga Journal, the Veterinary Information Network and many others. She also writes a beer column for the North Coast Journal. As editor of the North Coast Journal, she wrote and commissioned long-form articles, working with staffers and freelancers. Before that, she was a reporter for 13 years at the Sacramento Bee newspaper, where she won national and regional environmental reporting awards. She has also been an assistant city editor and copy desk chief at the Bee. As the Bee's copy desk chief in the early 1990s, she supervised 18 editors, co-directed the internship program and served on the newspaper's speakers bureau. Before joining the Bee, Peyton Dahlberg was a reporter or editor on newspapers in California, New York state and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and a researcher for a magazine in Germany. She has taught journalism courses at California State University, Sacramento, and Humboldt State University, and served as a writing coach at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism.
