Erin Schumaker has been health and science editor at ABC News since September 2019. Previously, she was a senior health editor and reporter at The Huffington Post, where she covered public health and health disparities, and before that an editor for Departures magazine. She was a 2017 Center for Health Journalism National Fellow. Erin has a masters from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism and is a graduate of Union College, where she won a grant to document recently deported migrants' detention stories on the U.S.-Mexico border. Erin was a 2016 National Press Foundation fellow. Her story, "Finding A Cure Wouldn’t Mean We’ve Defeated Cancer," was awarded a 2017 American Association for Cancer Research June L. Biedler prize for cancer journalism.
