Semantha Norris is an award-winning multimedia journalist and documentary photographer in Los Angeles. She is a freelance reporter with Capital & Main, where she is producing a series of stories exploring the impact of silicosis on stone fabrication workers in California. This series continues the reporting she began as a California Local News Fellow with the San Fernando Valley Sun/el Sol, for which she won first place for investigative reporting at the L.A. Press Club’s 2026 Southern California Journalism Awards. Norris received a bachelor’s degree from New York University Gallatin School of Individualized Study and a master's from the University of California, Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. She was previously a visuals intern with CalMatters and is an alumna of the Eddie Adams Workshop XXXVI and the Kalish Workshop.
