Javeria Salman is a freelance reporter based in Louisville, KY. Until early 2025, she was a national education reporter for nonprofit newsroom, The Hechinger Report. At Hechinger, she reported on education through the lens of innovation and inequality, covering a range of topics including technology, mental health, effects of anti-LGBTQ legislation, and disparities in math education. Her work also has appeared in Telemundo, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, Public Source, Kentucky Lantern and the Solutions Journalism Network. She attended community college in New Jersey before graduating with a bachelor’s degree from East Carolina University.
