John Washington is an award-winning journalist at Arizona Luminaria who reports on criminal justice, immigration and human rights. He has extensively covered problems at the Pima County jail, winning an Institute for Nonprofit News award for investigative journalism and an award for public service journalism from the Arizona Media Association. Washington's work has appeared in The Nation, The Intercept, The Atlantic and The Washington Post, among other major publications. He is also the author of two books.
