Nutrition: Americans really think they're eating healthfully, according to a new Consumer Reports poll. Unfortunately, rising obesity rates prove otherwise.

Environmental Health: California is moving to sharply reduce the levels of potential carcinogen chromium-6, the chemical made famous in the movie "Erin Brockovich," in tap water.

Health Disparities: While California is doing better at preventing unnecessary hospitalizations, racial disparities persist, particularly for African Americans with poor access to regular health care, Molly Hennessy-Fiske reports for the Los Angeles Times.
