Conrad Murray Convicted in Michael Jackson's Death: Check Out William Heisel's Early Coverage of Murray
Breaking: Conrad Murray has just been found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in singer Michael Jackson's death by drug overdose. Martin Kasindorf reports for USA Today:
As he did throughout the trial, Murray showed no emotion as the verdict was read. His mother also had no visible reaction. Someone in the Jackson family row of seats shrieked.
Murray's lawyers asked for him to remain free on bail until he is sentenced Nov. 29, but Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor said no. Noting that Murray was convicted of a homicide, he said his "reckless" behavior in Jackson's death showed a "significant and demonstrable" risk to the public...
...The conviction means Murray will automatically have his California medical license suspended, Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley said at a news conference after the brief court session. He said he hoped the other states where Murray is licensed to practice medicine - Nevada, Texas and Hawaii - would do the same.
