E-Health: The FDA has determined that some medical apps will require review, and will clarify how it intends to deal with them by the end of the year, reports Rob Stein for NPR.

Mental Health: A report from the Institute of Medicine warns that there will not be enough clinicians trained to deal with the mental health needs of the elderly as baby boomers age, reports Christian Torres for Kaiser Health News.

Infectious Disease: A plan to reduce dengue fever in the Florida Keys by releasing genetically-modified mosquitoes is meeting opposition in the form of an online petition. Nearly 90,000 people have signed up to protest the release of sterilized male mosquitoes, reports Ed Pilkington for the Guardian.

Flame Retardants: A bill is in the works to restrict the flame-retardant chemicals used in furniture and other household products, reports Michael Hawthorne for the Chicago Tribune.
