The Journalists in Aging Fellows Program, The Gerontological Society of America (GSA) and New America Media (NAM)
Information: The Gerontological Society of America (GSA) and New America Media (NAM) are welcoming applications — from journalists who wish to cover aging issues and/or who work for ethnic media outlets serving U.S. communities — for the seventh year of their joint fellowship program. To date, 2016 support is provided by grants from The Silver Century Foundation, AARP, The Retirement Research Foundation, and The John A. Hartford Foundation. 2016 Price Child Health and Welfare Journalism Awards, Children’s Advocacy Institute (CAI)
Information: The Price Child Health and Welfare Journalism Award, administered with the assistance of the Children’s Advocacy Institute (CAI), recognizes significant stories, series, or bodies of work that advance the understanding of, and enhance public discourse on, child health and well-being issues in California, including child health / health care reform; nutrition;child safety;child poverty; child care; education; child abuse; foster care; former foster youth / transition issues; juvenile justice; children with special needs, and others. All stories or series published by a major daily or weekly California newspaper from July 1, 2015—June 30, 2016 are eligible for nomination.
Deadline: July 8, 2016 at 5 p.m.
Information: The MJ Bear Fellowships identify and celebrate early-career digital journalists, working independently or for a company or organization, who have demonstrated — through professional experimentation, research or other projects — that they deserve support for their efforts and/or vision.The fellows are up-and-coming journalists inside or outside the newsroom who are just beginning to make their voices heard in the industry and working to expand the boundaries of digital news.

Information: Digital journalists from diverse backgrounds with experience reporting for mobile and social platforms are encouraged to apply for the CNN Diversity Fellowship at ONA16. Four winners will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the ONA conference in Denver Sept. 15-17. Applications will be open to journalists of diverse backgrounds, inclusive of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age and gender.
