Here we check in with prominent health journalists and experts to see what sites, newsletters and social media feeds they turn to first every morning. This week, we caught up with Mary Agnes Carey, Partnerships Editor and Senior Correspondent for Kaiser Health News. Here are her top morning reads:
"I can't imagine starting my day without reading KHN's Morning Briefing, which is the most comprehensive summary of the day's top health care stories, including KHN's original content. Sign up here. (Even if I didn't work here I'd put the Morning Briefing at the top of my daily reading list!)
I also read CQ (CQ for Congressional Quarterly) HealthBeat and Politico Pro. Both focus on health care developments on Capitol Hill, in the federal agencies that cover health and key health care policy developments throughout the states.
I also make sure to look through both the Washington Post and the New York Times for their health care and political coverage (health care and politics often intersect!). I'm also a fan of the New York Time's The Upshot and the paper's Well blog.
NPR's health blog, Shots, is another must-read. They cover everything - treatments, tests, public health, drugs. I always find something useful there.
Two others pubs that must be in the daily mix include The Hill's healthcare coverage and Morning Consult Health.
It's a lot to read but it's a big beat to cover!"
