Panelists
Linda Greenhouse, one of the leading Supreme Court reporters of her generation, currently holds the position of New York Times contributing op-ed writer, where she writes about the Supreme Court and the law. Greenhouse became The Times Supreme Court correspondent in 1978, and except for a brief period covering Congress in the mid ’80s, covered the Court as a reporter until 2008. In 1998, she was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for “her consistently illuminating coverage of the United States Supreme Court.” Greenhouse first joined The Times in July 1968 as a news clerk to James Reston, the columnist. Following a year at the Yale Law School, from 1977 to 1978, where she earned a master of studies in law degree on a Ford Foundation fellowship, she joined the Washington staff. Greenhouse is currently a senior research scholar in law, the Knight Distinguished Journalist in Residence, and Joseph Goldstein Lecturer in Law at Yale Law School. Greenhouse is also a member of the board of directors of the Harvard Club of Washington D.C. and of the Yale Law School Fund.
Jay Angoff is the former Missouri Insurance Commissioner, inaugural director of the HHS Office of Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight, and currently a partner at the class action law firm Mehri & Skalet in Washington, D.C. At HHS, he also served as senior advisor to the secretary and as HHS Regional Director for Region VII, headquartered in Kansas City. Between 1993 and 1998, Angoff served as the director of the Missouri Department of Insurance. Prior to coming to Missouri, Angoff served as deputy insurance commissioner of New Jersey and Special Assistant to the Governor for Health Insurance Policy. In those positions, he helped draft and implement New Jersey’s individual and small group reform laws. Angoff began his career as an antitrust lawyer with the FTC and later served as staff attorney for Congress Watch, a public interest lobbying organization, as well as counsel to the National Insurance Consumer Organization. Angoff currently represents individuals and non-profit organizations on ACA- and other insurance-related matters. He has written for The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal, among other publications. He is a member of the District of Columbia, Missouri, New Jersey, and U.S. Supreme Court bars, and is a graduate of Oberlin College and Vanderbilt Law School.
Jennifer Haberkorn is a health care reporter for Politico Pro. She’s covered the Affordable Care Act since it was being debated in Congress in 2009. Since then, she has written about the law from Capitol Hill, the federal agencies, the courts and outside the Beltway. Before arriving at Politico, Haberkorn covered Congress and local business news for The Washington Times. A former fellow and current senior fellow for the USC Annenberg Health Journalism Fellowships, her work has also appeared in Health Affairs and The New Republic. Haberkorn is a graduate of Marquette University, where she majored in journalism and served as editor of The Marquette Tribune.
