Tony Briscoe is an environmental reporter at the Los Angeles Times whose coverage focuses on the intersection of air quality and environmental health. Briscoe previously worked at ProPublica’s Midwest bureau where he delved deeply into matters of racial inequity and government neglect. Briscoe also worked at The Chicago Tribune, spotlighting issues facing the Great Lakes and the impacts of climate change in the Midwest. Briscoe was a finalist for the 2022 Livingston Award, which recognizes the best reporting by journalists under 35. He placed second in the environmental writing category at the 86th National Headliner Awards. He was the recipient of the 2019 and 2020 Peter Lisagor Award for best science and environmental reporting in Chicago. A graduate of Michigan State University, Briscoe began his career as a breaking news reporter at The Detroit News.
