Application Process: Applicants are required to submit an initial letter of inquiry (LOI) describing their project by 5:00 PM EDT on July 23, 2015. Applications are welcome at any time prior to that deadline. LOIs must be submitted using NIHCM’s online entry system and must conform to the required structure.
Basic Information: The Carey Institute for Global Good is dedicated to making a better world by contributing to a strong, educated and just society. One of the most important programs they offer is a residency program for writers who produce in-depth, deeply reported work about important issues – social, political, environmental, health.
Application Process: Individual Fellowships are devoted to particular areas of inquiry – environment, health, agriculture, food, race, ethnicity, politics, etc. Click here for application guidelines and to apply.
Continuing Education
Basic Information: The aim of the specially developed course, written by science journalists Helen Branswell and Martin Enserink, is to help journalists who are covering the epidemic to better report on this infectious disease. It covers basic knowledge about the virus and the disease, and how to fight it. Chapters were included on where to find trustworthy information, on tips and traps in reporting on Ebola and how to stay safe when being in the field.
Availability: The launching of the course, via its own mini-website, was accompanied by three free webinars. The webinars can be accessed through the website for later viewing.
