Doug Strane is a research project manager at PolicyLab at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). His portfolio of research seeks to ensure that children have equitable access to health care services that address their needs. His primary research interests include the ways in which legislative policy and economic trends have affected children’s access to health insurance coverage in recent years, as well as the changing role of Medicaid and CHIP for children in low- and moderate-income families. His recent work includes an analysis of the shifting landscape of pediatric health insurance coverage for families that have traditionally relied on employer-sponsored insurance. Mr. Strane additionally manages PolicyLab’s research related to child maltreatment in military families. This body of work seeks to identify ways in which military and civilian systems can ensure the delivery of necessary services and supports that address intrafamilial violence in military families. Finally, Mr. Strane is interested in the geospatial context of social determinants of health and how health systems can leverage their role in the community to connect families with resources.
Mr. Strane received his Masters of Public Health in Epidemiology from University of Michigan School of Public Health. He is a former Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Public Health Associate Program fellow.
