Emily Schabacker is a healthcare reporter with Cardinal News in Virginia. She began covering health care at Cardinal News, a nonprofit news organization serving southwest and southside Virginia, in December. Before that, she served as the only dedicated health reporter in her home state of Montana, where she contributed to her local newspaper, The Billings Gazette. There, she garnered statewide recognition for her coverage and earned a reporting fellowship with the National Press Foundation. She has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Montana.
