Katharine Stiers

Medical Student

Katharine “Blair” Stiers is a fourth-year medical student at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. She studied Public Health at UC Berkeley, where she was exposed to the dramatic health disparities that exist in underserved communities. This ignited her passion to increase access to healthcare for vulnerable populations and become an advocate for those who often do not have seat at the table. She was honored as a Dean’s Research Scholar in 2018 and pursued research at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland examining the effects of food insecurity on development of chronic medical conditions in the pediatric population. While at Keck, she has continued her advocacy through involvement in numerous student groups, including the Southern California Providers for Health Equity (SCOPHE). She has gained unique insight into the challenges marginalized communities face in healthcare and has a strong commitment to improve health outcomes for underserved communities. She hopes to become a pediatrician next year.
