Have questions about radon? Dispatch reporters hosting 'ask us anything'

Following the publication of The Dispatch's "Invisible Killer" investigation into radon failures, reporters will take questions from readers and central Ohioans online Dec. 3.
Reporters Max Filby, Danae King and Samantha Hendrickson, who wrote the series, will host an "ask us anything" session on Reddit at 12 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 3. The question and answer session will take place on the r/Columbus page.
The Dispatch's monthslong investigation found that policymakers have for decades failed to protect Ohioans from radon as other states have begun requiring testing in schools, daycares, rental units and more.
Known as the leading cause of lung cancer among nonsmokers, radon has also been linked to leukemia, strokes, heart attacks and dementia in recent years. Central Ohio is ground zero for radon, with Newark's 43055 ZIP code having the highest concentration of the gas in the country, according to a 2025 Harvard University study.
Participants can start posing their questions to reporters, who will answer them once the session starts Wednesday on Reddit.
