Rachel Wachman is the community editor at the Concord Monitor. She won first place at the 2024 New Hampshire Press Association Awards for "Arts and Entertainment Reporting," "Best Use of Social Media" and “Best Use of Video." She was a 2025 fellow at the Gloria L. Negri First Amendment Institute through the New England First Amendment Coalition. She holds degrees in English and French from Wesleyan University. Wachman’s Impact Fund project centers around support systems for children with disabilities in the state of New Hampshire, beginning with the Medicaid-funded Home Care for Children with Severe Disabilities program and then branching out to other care options. Through a combination of personal stories and data, the reporting will examine gaps within the disability care system, including the financial impact on families and what happens when a child ages out of care programs.
