Sarah Conway is an award-winning investigative reporter who won the 2024 Pulitzer Prize in Local Reporting for “Missing in Chicago,” a two-year investigation into how Chicago police handle missing person cases that reveals the disproportionate impact on Black women and girls, how police have mistreated family members or delayed cases, and how poor police data is making the problem harder to solve. Conway is a senior reporter and special projects manager at City Bureau, a journalism lab reimagining local media by equipping people with skills and resources, engaging in critical public conversations and producing information that directly addresses people’s needs. She writes investigative stories rooted in records and data about Chicago's deeply marginalized and overlooked people and manages news products geared toward impacted communities’ information needs. She reports on how government failures and public health crises often amplify the pre-existing issues of labor exploitation, police misconduct, the state's care of minors, and gender-based violence.
