Here’s an opportunity for journalists and editors in the Midwest who are interested in covering stories on the very complex topic of Medicare.

The Medicare NewsGroup is partnering with the Center for Healthcare Research & Transformation (CHRT) on Oct. 2, 2012, for a free regional symposium for journalists to learn the basics of Medicare reform, economics and policies.

The event is composed of six sessions designed to give journalists a firm grasp on some the most controversial aspects of the program. It will include speakers from AARP Michigan, CHRT, the University of Michigan Health System and the University of Michigan School of Public Health.

Here is the event information:

Time: Program will run from 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
Date: Tuesday, October 2
Price: Free
Location: University of Michigan–Ann Arbor (specific campus venue to be announced at a later date)
Registration: Contact Alison Szot, Senior Web Editor at The Medicare NewsGroup, at 847-786-4480 or at aszot@medicarenewsgroup.com.
