Investigative Reporter

I've been a reporter for more than a decade, both for the Chicago Tribune and now the Times-Picayune in New Orleans, where I'm the public safety editor. My work focuses on issues of criminal justice, from a family whose chance at justice for their murdered loved one was washed away in Katrina, to how stolen firearms fuel street violence in New Orleans. I was a 2017 National Fellow and collaborated with my colleague, Richard Webster, on a project that explored the impact of chronic trauma on children growing up in Central City, a crime-ridden New Orleans neighborhood.
