Mara Silvers writes about health and human services issues happening in local communities, the Montana statehouse and the court system for the Montana Free Press. Since joining the paper, she has been particularly drawn to stories about addiction treatment, mental health access, Medicaid reform, child welfare and LGBTQ+ health policy. Before joining the Montana Free Press, Silvers worked in podcast and radio production at Slate and WNYC. She was born and raised in Helena, Montana.
