Michael Hill

Michael Hill is an award-winning news anchor and correspondent who became the morning host for WNYC in March 2021. Previously, he reported for NJTV News from Newark on New Jersey’s law, leaders and legacy and the impact they have on life, learning and livelihood. In addition to his reporting duties for NJTV News, he was a special correspondent to both local and national news programs on Thirteen/WNET, WLIW21, MSNBC and PBS, including contributing to “America in Black and Blue: A PBS NewsHour Weekend Special Report,” examining the relationship between police and the communities they serve and how to advance the discussion to ease tensions and promote understanding. Michael has also moderated forums on critical issues including poverty, housing and New Jersey's Drug Addiction Crisis, and U.S. Sen. Cory Booker’s forum on prison and mass incarceration reform to a standing-room-only audience. Michael was also the host of “Newark Today,” a monthly radio show on WBGO 88.3FM that examines the issues important to New Jersey’s most populated city. Michael has had stints in New York, Dallas, New Orleans and beyond. He’s covered some of the world’s most memorable events over the last four decades. He’s a graduate of Barringer High School where he served as student council president and ran track and played on the state championship-winning football team. (Go Blue Bears!) Barringer is where Michael’s passion for investigation and storytelling were channeled into broadcast journalism. Michael feels the truth is well worth the pursuit.
