Michael LaForgia

Michael LaForgia is an investigative reporter for the New York Times. He previously worked as an investigative reporter for the Tampa Bay Times. He was a 2016 National Fellow, and in 2017, he and several colleagues won a Pulitzer Prize for his Fellowship project. In 2014, he and and a colleague won the Pulitzer Prize for Local Reporting for a series of stories about a government program that housed the homeless in squalor. He joined the Times in 2012. Before that, he spent six years as a reporter for The Palm Beach Post, where he covered gang wars, Florida's prescription painkiller crisis and abuses within state juvenile jails. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, he grew up in Summerville, S.C.
