Pedro Rojas has worked for Univision since December 2004. In May 2014, he became the national correspondent for Univision Network News in Texas, the South-Central region of the United States and northern Mexico, and opened a bureau office in the border city of McAllen, Texas. He is a two-time Lone Star Emmy award winner and a two-time National Emmy Award nominee. In February 2016, Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick appointed him as a member of the Texas Elections Advisory Committee, and he was re-appointed and will serve until 2021. Pedro was born in Venezuela, and prior to migrating to the U.S. in 2001, worked as a journalist for a local newspaper, local TV station and a national TV network, TELEVEN. He studied journalism and communication at the Universidad de los Andes and English as a second language at the University of Utah. His Fellowship project will focus on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the poor communities of South Texas, known as “colonias.”
