Tony Rodriguez is a South Sacramento beat reporter at Cap Radio and part of the inaugural group of UC Berkeley California Local News Fellows. Having grown up in a Mexican immigrant family, Rodriguez realizes the vital role of local news in providing communities with direction on resources in times of need. At Sacramento State, he was the editor-in-chief of the university’s student news organization, The State Hornet, where he led over 60 student staff members. For the California Health Equity Fellowship, he will cover a very prevalent but underreported local health issue: youth vaping.
