Gabrielle Emanuel is a health reporter for WBUR in Boston. As a reporter for GBH News, she took part in the Center for Health Journalism 2020 Data Fellowship, for which she produced a series of stories on the lack of research into the causes of prematurity. She started her journalism career at NPR -- first as a Kroc Fellow, then covering education as a member of the Ed Team. Her national reporting has included a series on dyslexia, stories on financial education and coverage of how domestic violence affects classrooms. Her work has also been featured on the NPR podcasts Planet Money, Code Switch and UpFirst. At WGBH, Gabrielle has reported on everything from opioid trials in federal court to the untold story of the Reverse Freedom Riders. She has received numerous awards for her reporting, including national and regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, a Sigma Delta Chi Award and a Clarion Award. Her reporting has also appeared in The New York Times and The Atlantic. Gabrielle received her BA in history from Dartmouth College and her doctorate in social policy from Oxford University, where she was a Rhodes Scholar.
