Jayne O'Donnell

Healthcare policy reporter

I've been a reporter since the 1980s and have covered healthcare policy since October 1, 2013, which also happens to be the day the Affordable Care Act exchanges opened, but hardly without a hitch. Since then, I've written about the ups and downs of the exchanges and health reform along with issues including pharmaceutical industry funding of patient groups, patient safety and teen mental health. In 1996, I broke the stories on air bags killing children - and the government's failure to act - which led to the warning labels and smart air bags now in every new vehicle.
