Matt Kiefer serves as assistant professor at Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism. Kiefer comes from WBEZ, Chicago’s NPR affiliate, where he worked as the news applications editor and broke down large and complex sets of information into stories for Chicagoans. Prior to joining WBEZ, Kiefer worked on an R&D team at the Washington Post, where he reported on voting rights litigation leading up to the 2020 election and designed a database to track Jan. 6 criminal filings, supporting the Post’s Pulitzer Prize-winning reporting on the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
