A roundtable discussion, hosted by Korea Daily, brought out generational divides between first-generation immigrant parents and second-generation youth. Contrasting values centered around academic pressure, independence and cultural expectations. Parents emphasized academic achievement for a bright future and children expressed frustration at the study-centric culture enforced by their parents.

Mental health is a growing concern among farmworkers in California. Dionisia Martinez and her husband came from Michoacán, Mexico to work in the vegetable farms in Coachella Valley. When work became unreliable, Dionisia's husband succumbed to depression and committed suicide.
