Alexis Terrazas took over as the editor of El Tecolote in June 2014. A San Francisco native with extensive experience, both as a journalist and as an editor, Alexis was awarded a Peninsula Press Club Herb Caen grant in 2006, and then began to study journalism at San Francisco State University. While at SF State, he served on the Golden Gate Xpress as Sports Editor, won various journalism awards and wrote articles for El Tecolote. Since joining El Tecolote, the publication has won various awards from the SF Press Club, and was recognized by SPJ NorCal with the Silver Heart Award in 2018.
This survey was developed and gathered by El Tecolote with the support of the USC Annenberg Center for Health Journalism 2020 Impact Fund, and in collaboration with Mujeres Hacia El Conocimiento in alliance with Excelsior Works.
